NaNoWriMo Update, Day 16

The official NaNoWriMo crest

Total wordage: 25,874. Today’s words: 1270.

We know we don’t have to write the pages in the order the reader will read them. Still, it’s hard for me to do that; I’m such a beginning-middle-end person.

I really thought I could tell this whole story from my protagonist’s point of view. But it’s clear that a lot happens behind the scenes that my protagonist will never see, but the reader needs to. Figuring out how all these different scenes will be revealed is driving me crazy.

So today I decided to let my protagonist stew a bit, while my lost child tells her story.

And a few other characters tell theirs.

Then I’ll write the ending, and during the rewriting phase, I’ll figure out how to piece this puzzle together coherently. Right now, it’s too complex for me to see the gestalt.
