I invited my brother to fly out from New Jersey last month to visit us. I told him March is the best time to experience Arizona.
I was wrong.
Sorry Bill. Plan your next visit for April. So much more is in bloom, and 80 degrees is a pleasant temperature to stroll around the neighborhood.
Here’s what I saw on today’s jaunt (you can click on the smaller pictures to enlarge them and see the captions):

Petunias
Ocotillo
Palo verde in bloom
Ocotillo.
Bougainvillea.
Mexican bird of paradise.
Oleander.
Prickly pear with blossoms.
I don’t know what these are called, but they have concentric rings of different colors.
Oleander.
I think these are a variety of daisy.
This oleander was so fragrant I had to inhale. I’ll probably pay for it with allergy symptoms.
Hibiscus. (Not the whirly thing.)
More bougainvillea.
More oleander.
Roses by a community pool.

A few dandelions found a shady spot to bloom under a pine tree, right by a sprinkler.
Bush
Yellow lantana

Beautiful, Andrea. Those cute little pink and yellow flowers are lantana. They come in a variety of colors–yellow, lavendar, red, pink, white…They’re a great desert flower that takes very little water.

Thanks, Linda. I’ve heard of lantana, but since I don’t have any, I never knew exactly what they were.
