What is the most fun thing you did in school?

The most fun thing (despite the incredibly hard work) I ever did in school was participate in two high school musicals: Annie, Get Your Gun my sophomore year and Li’l Abner my senior year. Our performance of Li’l Abner won a contest, and we were able to perform it at the Garden State Arts Center. Definitely the highlight of our high school years.

Being in those musicals gave me the courage to participate in Opera Workshop my junior year in college. I performed in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Suor Angelica, and Otello. All chorus parts, but wonderful experience for a voice major who dreamed to be a choral conductor.

What is your favorite type of dog?  (can be anything from a specific breed, a stuffed animal or character in a movie)

I’d have to say dachshund. We have a little rescue doxie named Rudi, and we love her very much, though she’s a whiner. (A weiner and a whiner–how’s that?)

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

This brings to mind a party I will be attending someday, the Wedding Feast of the Lamb. I will be arriving by myself, joining a throng of extraordinary people, some of whom I know, but mostly whom I’ve never met. Yes, I want to go, and thank God, I will attend. …been as afraid as I was on September 11, 2001. Even though I didn’t personally know anyone who perished in the attacks, many of my friends did. Our world turned upside down that day, and our concept of safety changed forever.

My heart aches for the families of the victims of last Sunday’s attack in Orlando, Florida. My prayers are with you.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? 

I am grateful that my family is alive and well.

And I am looking forward to working with my critique group, Tuesday’s Children, who are meeting at my house tomorrow.
