As a reward for accompanying him to the doctor’s office today, hubby treated me to goodies at the craft store. One of my new toys is a set of watercolor pencils. I sketched a scene inspired by one by Suhita Shirodkar.

I’m not too happy with it–more pastel than I intended. It looks more like straight colored pencil than watercolor, even adding plenty of water and swirling the brush around. I guess I’m not putting enough pigment on the page.

Hopefully, I’ll get better with practice. I watched a couple of tutorials on YouTube, but they didn’t really help. Maybe my pencils are too inexpensive.

Do you use watercolor pencils? Do you know any tricks that would help me? Please comment below. Thanks!
