I worked at the public library, inventorying books. That was my higher education until I could afford to get my degrees. I used to take out 8-10 books at a time, I read all the time. That was a great job!
When I was in college, I worked in the music department library. We had not only books, but sheet music. I learned so much about repertoire just from reshelving the music. I didn’t realize how much I’d learned until a flute player asked me to make a recommendation for her next piece to learn, and I was able to. Working in the library was such a good experience that for a while I considered getting another degree–in library science.
