I stand corrected. Someone told me a long time ago it was honeysuckle, and I questioned it at the time, because when we lived in New Jersey our honeysuckle looked nothing like this. Someone else told me this was cape honeysuckle, and I believed her, because it seemed to be a verification of what I’d originally been told. But you’re right–I looked up cape honeysuckle, and the blossoms have the same shape as the vines I remember from NJ, rather than the furled structure of these.
This is a variety of oleander, not cape honeysuckle. While honeysuckle is not toxic, every part of oleander is extremely toxic.
