This might be a variety of acacia (please let me know if you recognize it). It had cute little flowers in May:

The flowers kind of remind me of the white blossoms on lily of the valley.

Wordless Wednesday: Cape Honeysuckle

I’m doing double duty with Cee’s Flower of the Day today. My neighbor told me these are honeysuckle, but they’re not like the yellow vine I remember from New Jersey. My friend Linda was able to specifically identify them as cape honeysuckle.

Wordless Wednesday: Pomegranate Progress

One day last May, my neighbor caught me outside with my camera. I confessed I was taking pictures of his pomegranates. IMG_0798

“Are you putting them on your blog?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“I’ll be famous,” he said.

So if you see Dave Winans, tell him you saw his pomegranates on ARHtistic License.

The pomegranate starts out as a red blossom.

See the bulbous section near the base of the bloom? That’s where the fruit will form and gradually ripen.
